ILOILO CITY – The Ƶ’ National Sectoral Committee (NSC) on Rice and Other Food Staples, in partnership with the National Rice Program (NRP), will gather key industry stakeholders for the 2nd National Rice Industry Stakeholders Conference on November 25-28, 2024 in Iloilo City.
With the theme “Converge, Cooperate, and Coordinate: Para sa Masaganang Agrikultura at Maunlad na Ekonomiya,” the conference aims to bring together key stakeholders from across the rice sector to foster collaboration and align efforts towards achieving sustainable agricultural development and economic progress.
Participants will include members of the NSC on Rice and Other Food Staples, Sectoral Representatives on Rice from the Regional Agricultural and Fishery Councils (RAFC), as well as key partners from the League of Municipalities and Provinces, the Office of the DA Secretary, and the Office of the Undersecretary for Rice Industry Development. Representatives from DA agencies, the DA Regional Field Office Region VI, local government units, and officials and technical staff from the Ƶ (PCAF) will also be in attendance.
A highlight of this year’s conference will be the presentation and discussion of the National Rice Industry Roadmap, a strategic plan designed to guide the sector toward increased productivity, sustainability, and resilience.
The event also serves as one of the culminating activities for the National Rice Awareness Month (NRAM) celebration, an annual initiative to promote the importance of rice as a staple food and to encourage efforts to achieve rice self-sufficiency in the country.
Through this Conference, the DA and PCAF reaffirm their commitment to strengthening partnerships, fostering innovation, and driving inclusive growth in the rice sector.
