Cebu City, Philippines—The òòò½ÊÓƵ (PCAF) proudly announces its 10th National Agriculture and Fisheries Volunteers’ Day (NVD), set to take place at the Summit Galleria Hotel in Cebu on December 3, 2024. This milestone celebration, themed “Celebrating a Decade of Volunteer Recognition in the Agri-Fishery Sector,” highlights PCAF’s unwavering commitment to honoring its volunteer-partners who play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Philippine agriculture and fisheries.

The NVD is an annual gathering that highlights the invaluable contributions of volunteers in supporting the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) initiatives to modernize value chains and uplift the lives of Filipino farmers, fishers, and their communities. This year’s event is expected to draw over 400 participants, including representatives from the Agricultural and Fishery Councils (AFCs), National Sectoral Committees (NSCs), and other stakeholders nationwide.

During the event, PCAF will recognize the outstanding achievements of its nationwide network of consultative bodies, whose efforts have contributed in advancing sustainable and inclusive growth in the agriculture and fisheries sectors.

The NSCs facilitate private sector participation in the DA’s priority programs, fostering multi-stakeholder consultations and providing crucial feedback to ensure the effective implementation of national agri-fishery policies and programs.

Acting as consultative, integrative, and monitoring bodies, the AFCs work closely with DA Regional Field Offices and local government units. Their policy recommendation functions are instrumental in implementing responsive enterprise development initiatives and ensuring higher productivity and incomes for farmers and fisherfolk.

As PCAF continues its mission as the DA’s consultation arm on agriculture and fishery issues, this year’s NVD reinforces the importance of collaboration among government agencies, industry players, and volunteer-partners. Through policy services and consultations, PCAF links these key stakeholders to identify and address challenges confronting the sector.

The 10th NVD is a celebration of shared achievements, resilience, and a vision for a thriving and sustainable agri-fishery industry. In Cebu, we will honor a decade of volunteerism and excellence in service to Filipino farmers and fisherfolk.
